FIRST REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 2015 AWARDS

First Regional Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. has again allocated $3million to its scholarship programme to provide GSAT scholarships, book grants, tertiary bursaries and continued financing to annual GSAT scholarship awardees.

For 2015, five students have entered high school and three tertiary-level students are pursuing studies at University level courtesy of First Regional scholarships and bursaries. In addition, $10,000 book grants were presentedto nine GSAT students to help defray the costs associated with entering high school.

The awards were presented August 12 at a ceremony held at the Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios. In his address, Board President Donald Mason noted that for the past 16 years, First Regional has been making access to education easier for hundreds of GSAT and tertiary students by providing financial assistance through the scholarship fund.

Guest Speaker, Mr. Howard Isaacs, Principal of Moneague Teachers’ College urged the students to make use of the opportunities afforded them by First Regional.

Scholarship recipients were Durranee Clarke, Daniella Dumphrey, Markeish Francis, Daniel Edwards and Kindae Ebanks - who are all being funded for the first five years of high school. Bursaries in the amount of $200,000 each were awarded to Lascelles Hamilton, Anthony Brown and Jana Hinds
